New steering wheel and no horn
« on: 01 October 2011, 21:38 »
When I got my gti it had a 4 spoke steering wheel, one of the horrible rubber ones. I bought a leather 3 spoke one and changed it today all going well until I had to put the electrics back on, the 4 spoke one had the airbag and can take 2 spade connectors while the 3 spoke can only take one, so I worked out one of the spade connectors is an earth and the other is for the horn. Am I right in believing I have to change the wiring plug to one that only has one spade connector and the switch for the horn will be different. Or I can make a bracket that makes the wire earth and sound the horn when I press it, I would prefer it if I could change the wiring as that's a better option.

At the moment I have no horn it is taped up in insulation tape or if it earths it will sound

Has anybody else come across this?
