Hi guys,

Could anyone help me please.

For the last year or so my 8v gti has been losing water. As i use it only once a week or so, evertime I take it out I have to top up the water level in the radiator via the expansion tank.

After much prodding around I have found out where the leak is BUT i can't order a new part....because i don't know what the part is!

I'm too computer illiterate to load a  picture so I have pasted a link of an 8v engine  :embarassed:but basically it is a 'three branch pipe junction' located on the front of the engine block  has it has three hoses connected to it, 1 fat one from the top of the radiator, 1 thin one going off to the right and one going directly into the engine down below.  On top of it is where the (i think) coolant level sensor is plugged in, and there are also three retaining clips for three of the HT leads...

hopefully this picture helps if it works.

basically mine has cracked and is leaking water. does anyone know what this part is or where I can get a new one - pressumably it is a pretty straight forward job, as it is only bolted to the engine block with three small bolts?

I need to get this sorted before the cold weather arrives as there is currently no coolant in the aengine (as it all leaks out) and is just to expensive to keep topping up...

any help appreciated please.

thanks

Flange.

These are the parts you need from VW to sort it properly

037 121 132 E - flange
357 121 140 - plug
+ N 903 168 02 - seal
032 121 142 - retaining clip
+ 037 121 687 - seal
N 902 809 04 - bolts

And get some G12++ coolant while you're in there.

For future ref, heres how you post pics

Thank you so much - really quick and hepful..!

presumably this is pretty straight forward job for a practical guy? - pipes off, unplug sensor, bolt new flange back on, connect pipes then refill water/coolant?

thanks for help

Yep, easy as that. Spend as much time as you can bleeding the system though. (Run engine with expansion cap off whilst squeezing and massaging all pipes to remove any airlocks)
