I'd say their more reliable than an early Disco, the electrics on those were horrendous and I've never known anything rot like they do. Not much to go wrong on Frontys, 2.0 8v engine from the Carlton is simple, tough and good for 200k, trans box and diffs are pretty strong although the diesels can bust diffs with the torque if you run AT tyres. Early ones had weak gearboxes but get anything '95 on and it should be fine, electrics are tough. Their almost as bad as Discos for rot though, usually round the rear leaf hangers, rear valance and sills, and the rad is a bit exposed so gets holed easily. PAS pump can be weak too, but mine did 15k with nothing but a service and a wiper motor, not bad for 300 quid. A Disco at that price wouldn't even have a test, and would probably be a V8. Awesome noise and torque but 15 mpg on a cruise and less than 10 round town...
