Couple of Questions
« on: 25 August 2011, 19:05 »
Hi Folks,

Got a couple of questions, if anyone can help me here.

I replaced the fuel regulator pipe (braided hose sits above the head) with samco 3mm hose. I think the orginial hose was 3.5mm to 4mm. The old hose was in bad condition and it was all I had - should this be ok? the car idles ok, just it seems it lost a wee pit of power (could just me me lol - mind you there isnt much power too loose).

Got a bit of squeeking from the back of the car - boot area. Its not the suspesion or bushes, think its the inside rear trim - anyone had this issue before?...Dont want to rip out and rebuild the full thing - they may be a problematic area.

I have checked all breathers and vaccum hoses and there all good with no splits. Sometimes when I start it from cold, there is a petrol smell in the cabin. The choke kicks in for a few mins then idles ok. Any ideas?

Finally, has anyone got any pics on oil breather setups. Got a kit, but couldnt find really any pictures of other mk3's with it installed. Just wanted to see what theres looked like.

Thanks again - good forum, with good people

Thanks for this...I will try it out.

Just recieved catch tank today in the post. However it s a 3 port. Basically a cylinder with 2 ports (port 1+2) on one end and the one port on the opposite end(port 3).

Am I correct in saying that the oil breat from the inlet manifold should connect into port 1 of 2 and the bread that goes into the air intake (pipe located up from the the MAF) should go into port 2 of 2.

Port 3 still a small air filter on it?...I have read these can be used a return flows to the sump as well.

I may have this wrong, but if the above is the case, what direction should I have the catch tank siting?...If port 3 points towards the ground, woldnt this just leak out of the filter??(gravity).

Thanks again

Am not. That just came with the kit. Looks like it was a universal kit.

A few reasons... Mainly stop shi! Going back into the engine, stop the inlet mani cligging as i cleaned it last week and it covered in gunk. ???
