People who don't deliver.......
« on: 24 August 2011, 15:04 »
When I say deliver I don't mean a chinese takeaway

I took my car into a local bodyshop on monday to have a few minor bits touched up. He said id probably have it back for tuesday teatime. Great I thought.I also had asked him to fit some chrome window trim but he said it was too much of a hassle, OK I thought, just leave it then and ill see you tuesday teatime.

I get a call tuesday morning saying all the paintwork is complete and he's had a look at the trim, he said he can do it and it would all be complete for wednesday dinnertime. Great I thought, nice one

Its now almost 3 o'clock and I've rang him to see whats happening.... He hasn't started the trim but its on tomorrows list and ill have the car back for dinnertime. Only problem is I need the car tomorrow now so I rang him back and told him ill just leave the trim to another time and come and collect the car now.

Only to be told it wont be ready til tomorrow afternoon  Why? I ask? I still need to flatten it and polish it  :lipsrsealed:

So I said, look I need it back today....... I'm picking it up at half 5 and I will never use that shop again.

I know there will be sprayers on here who are probably thinking, It takes time you know! I do know it takes time and I was patient. It was him saying its all done then saying it still needs flattening etc that has pissed me off.

I was supposed to get it back tuesday then wednesday now thursday.........

I just hope its a good job, its cost me £400 and to be honest there wasn't much to do.

I have a question for any sprayers....

Would you leave a car 2 days before flattening and polishing?

I don't know the ins and outs of flattening and polishing but perhaps it's just a simple mix up.

Originally he had planned to give you the car back for Tuesday tea time, so if that had remained unchanged then I'm assuming he would have had it completed on time. Since he knew you wanted the chrome trim done however perhaps he left the polishing until he had finished "working" on the car and so figured he would fit the trim on Wed and then flatten/polish the car just before your receive it so that it is looking it's best.

Alternatively he could have polished the paintwork and then tried to fit the chrome trim on after but I'm guessing you'd be left with marks (fingerprints and smudges etc) on top of the polished paintwork.

You could be right but I still feel pissed off simply cause Ive had to go without a car on my week off from work longer than I had to and the work still isn't completed

build a bridge

I always add a couple of days on if i'm having work done on my car, i would never arrange to do anything in my car if there was a chance it wouldnt be ready. its just life mate.
