AFAIK there isn't a lot of options to remap the 16v. You'll gain more from mechanical mods, sort the filter and breathing system out, set the suspension up right.

Then there are more in depth mods, flowing the head, boring the ports and cylinders, lightening and balancing flywheels etc etc.

You'll gain 1-2bhp peak power at the most

Well worth chipping and having it setup correct IMO, not massive peak gain but you will be seeing around 5-6bhp gain at point on the power curve, much sharper pick up, sharper throttle response, smoother torque curve and much stronger WOT conditions across the whole rpm range which a higher rpm limiter.

We charge £20O for a custom chip tune on our rolling road, if after the tuning you feel it's not worth the money or not what your after you don't have to pay a penny.

I have many happy customers running an RTech chip tune and they all seemed to be happy with the overall results.

Agreed - if its a car you want to keep, it is perfectly tunable.

Bear in mind before the days of tuning modern forced induction cars, there was a massive market for chipping - and tuners were getting decent results.

£200 seems steep because you only get 5bhp vs 35bhp on a modern PD engine.. but really £200 is worth it if the car is worth it to you.
