Lowering Revs on GTi 16v
« on: 14 August 2011, 13:24 »
Hi there,

Noticed as I'm flying along down dual carriageways and A roads that the rev can go quite high, which I know is quite normal for the 16vs.

Just curious as to whether this will effect the fuel economy of the car?
Is there an way to lower the revs but keep most of the power and hopefully raise the MPG?

Cheers,
Chris

Different ratio gearbox. Longer 5th gear will give better economy and lower revs
Classic Green Corrado VR6 Storm | Jetex Cat back | BMC CDA | VT mounts | Bilstein B12 | 288mm front brakes | Mk4 rear brakes | Goodridge braided hoses | BBS RX228s | Shortshifter | Lupo wipers | Uprated headlight loom | All red rears | Refreshed leather | Fresh paint |

You can switch to a different 5th gear but not easy to do.
