8v GTi cut out/non starter
« on: 13 August 2011, 14:33 »
Hi all,

Just coming off the dual carriageway this afternoon, lost revs and battery light came on.  Recovery bloke reckons coil as there is power going into it but not comig out.

Ive put it on VCDS and there was the Hall Sensor G40 error code in there but it has cleared and not re appeared.  Question is, is it definately the coil or could the disi/hall sensor be the culprit?

How can I rule bits out?

Thanks in advance

Sorry meant to say, there is fuel there so ruled out Fuel Pump Relay.

Could this still be Relay 30 causing this?  Never ran rough just cut out and wont restart.

Thanks

Coil is about £25 and so is the relay, so i would start there bud
If the hammer dont fix it, maybe the hammers broke?

Thanks for the reply,

Sorted, it was the coil - tenner from the scrappy and jobs a good un.  :smug:  Cheapest I could find a new one was £35-£40 and this is an OEM one so pleased with that :)

There was 12v going into the coil but nothing coming out

Cheers
