Sorted Bad Running On 2.0 Gti 8v
« on: 18 April 2005, 01:03 »
I've been watching this forum for a while now noting peoples suggested fixes for the common stuttering and rough idle problems.

Well, I changed, my:

Plugs,
Oil & Filter,
Leads,
Dizzy Cap,
Rotor.

I found no difference so I preceeded to clean out all the breathers and the throttle housing with yet again no success.

I considered changing the two relays but decided against it and changed the "Fuel Filter".

I can not explain how much better the car runs now. The idle is now smooth, pic up is smoother and more powerful through out the rev range and the car is now a pleasure to drive.

I know this mightn't work for everyone but at the cost of a few pounds it's well worth doing.

Yea thanks for that mate.

Im going to try replacing the furel filter and ecu relays on wednesday.

Hope it works - im glad you think performance has improved cos i was worried

Hopefully the car will feel more like a GTi and less like a 1.4 once the work is finished....

Ta
