can some please explain this to me.

im 19 0ncb and have bn driving for 2 years.

i did an insurance quote on a 1.6 16v bora which has got 103bhp, and been quoted around 1500, .
another quote on a mk2 1.6 ryder which has about 75bhp??..and been quoted 1900!  :sick:

why is the price on the golf higher??  :huh:

Bora will be cheaper as it is more secure

Right. so old and slow isnt necessarily cheaper lol

also, i found out bora is group insurance 6 and the golf is 9.

It's all down to the insurer in the end, the opinion of whoever gave you those quotes see the golf has a higher risk.  Easier to steal, more desirable to a thief and more dangerous than a more modern car.

Shop around, most insurers can give better prices for specific cars, age, etc than others.

It's crazy how they calculate the prices - when I was with Direct Line last year it was cheaper to insure a Golf 1.8 than a 1.4, of the same age :S.  And luckily not too much more to insure a GTI 16V hehe
