New on here but not to GTi's
« on: 09 July 2011, 13:27 »
Afternoon people, thought I'd better introduce myself as I've just joined your forum.   I've spent the last 8 years driving Audi 80's in various guises but before that I was firmly a VW man.   I'm a mechanic and do all the work on my cars myself.  I'm no stranger to forums being a member of both 'classicaudi' and 'S2' forums so I know how to behave myself

Anyway I've decided to get another Mk II as I love them and a good mate has a lovely 1988 16 valve in very original condition with my name on it.  The car needs some TLC but is low milage, rust free and a great spec being an Oak Green Three door with original Black leather and a FSH.  He purchased it as a non running project but dosen't have the time to get it done having Three S2's and a turbo technics converted Scirocco to keep him busy.  My plan for the car is restore it faithfully body wise , install a 6A bottom end then tune it properly and make it handle with coilovers and Poly bushes ect.  Already got a set of nearly new FK's wating to go on  and the 6A is coming from one of my dead Audis.  I'll start a project thread in the next month once I have the car in my workshop.  One of the reasons I've joined this forum is to pick up some tips on tunning a hybrid KR/6A engine.  If anyone has any pointers to appropriate threads or info then please fire away.

Oh, and I'll have a good 3A 2.0 short stroke 8 valve engine from another of my Audi 80's available soon if anyone is after one.

I'd like to post up a couple of picks of my Audis for those who appreciate the Four rings, however I can't work out how to do it on here.  IT is not my strong point.  Please help!!!

Over the years I've had.-

3 X Mk II GTi's both Eight & 16 valve, I drove one Eight valve for five years and 70K miles, it was my second ever car purchased after cutting my teath in a 1.3 MK II for 9 months.

2 X Mk II Scirrocos, a 1.6 carb and a GTX.

2 X Corrados, a VR6 and a tunned G60, had the G60 for Three years and aout 30K miles, fantastic car.

2X Audi Coupes, a 2.3 10 valve and an S2, still got both these.  The S2 is an on going project and I'll never sell it.

2 X Audi 80 quattros, both Eight and 16 valve, still got both these but their knackered after being crashed. The bottom end from the 16 valve is destined for my Golf.

1 X Audi 1985 90 quattro, being stored for another project.  2.2 10 valve turbo engine sat waiting in my workshop.

So I'm pretty familar with VAG stuff from the 80's and 90's.

Thanks for the welcome guys and link too the photo guide thread, I'll try and get some pic's up soon.   I'll have my Golf by the end of the month all being well, and I'm removing the 6A from my Audi this weekend.
