Removing scuttle panel
« on: 05 July 2011, 14:41 »
Ive removed wipers, took rubber seal off, took pollen filter cover off, and i still cant shift the plastic, is there clips on it or is it lookin likely its glued? Need it off cos the wipers have packed in altogether now, been goin slow for a bit and wd40 and silicone was helping, but now either linkage has siezed or motors burnt out

never mind, done. linkage has well and truly siezed, even compressed in the vice isnt fixing it! leaving it in a bath of oil overnight which i doubt will work, £50 lighter from vw

but its a stupid design, theres no form of waterproofing on the linkage and its a water channel! extremely stupid design, surprised at vw

How did you get the scuttle off in the end?  Got out the big guns?

I adjusted ours (was mis-aligned) the other day and it kinda slid sideways pretty easy.  Guessed it was mounted in some sort of groove?  Small crowbar sounds a bit OTT!

be brave and pop it from the passenger side first, needs to be pulled down and away from the windscreen at the same time, was just a bit worried cos all the crud in there was acting like a glue and i was worried it would pop the screen
