Offset Pedals

What is menat please by 'offset pedals’?  I'm still looking to change my Mk6 Golf that causes me discomfort and feel this may be an issue (either that and/or the bucket seats).

My Mk 6 (and the numerous others I've checked out lately) have the pedals set as follows - when sat comfortably with feet on the floor, the feet are broadly in the middle of the clutch and brake pedals with the accelerator set to the right.  (Another way I could describe it is that if the accelerator was not there, the brake clutch and brake would be fairly central.)  Is this pedal set up what would be described as offset?  Or - BMWs have all three pedals all set to the right - is this what is described as an offset pedal configuration?

Secondly - is there any adjustment for the accelarator at all - as it sometiems feels as though it's positoned too far forward?

Any advice appreciated,

Offset pedals are where the whole lot are off to the side.
Normally on a RHD car, the as you sit with your legs out, the clutch is straight in front of your left foot, the throttle in front of your right foot and the brake in between.
On certain cars, the clutch can be way off to the left, with all pedals being moved to the left...so you end up sitting at a funny angle to reach them.
RHD Golfs don't have offset pedals though...not in my opinion.

I drove a Pug 206 very briefly once. Not only were my feet too big for the footwell (and I'm only a size 8!), I felt like I had to sit sideways in the seat. It needed one of those swivel office chairs  :laugh: Terrible car!

The pedals in the Golf feel just fine IMO.

Yeah, offset pedals are generally where the pedals are moved to the side due to front wheel intrusion into the footwell area so therefore more common on superminis and the like. A few sports cars that were designed originally for LHD also suffer from this on RHD cars.
For me a Golf has a near perfect seating and pedal line up but I've never been a fan of the floor hinged accelerator pedal which seems to have too much dead travel. The worst car I suffered from the VAG stable was my 2006 Polo GTI 1.8t which gave me backache thanks to the pedal position. But I also owned a 2005 Fabia vRS beforehand and that didn't hurt my back despite using the same floorpan and even pedal box. Odd.

My missus had a 1 series M sport and that price of sh!t was a nightmare but I've never noticed it on my Golf's or Scirocco?
