GTI has been standing for a few months, fitted a new starter motor as wasn't working, now it turns over but won't fire as no fuel coming through.

Fuel pump(s) do not prime, already replaced relay and fuse, tried a new lift pump today, nothing again.

Does anyone know if this has 2 fuel pumps? The lift pump on the top and the one underneath?

Can anyone help as i'm running out of ideas as to what is the problem?

Thanks. I've just spotted the big pump underneath the car. I've just checked the wires going to the lift pump and there would appear to be no power there. There is to the sender alongside it but not the pump. I've replaced both the fuse and the relay though. Does anyone have an ideas? If there is no power coming through would this affect both pumps as neither make a sound!

the loom runs from fusebox to liftpump and a trailing lead off of that goes to the main pump.. thats all i really know, personally.

Didn't Sidecarphil have something like this and it was his ECU that went pop.

Fire some easy start into the intake and see if it fires, at least see what does work

If you have no power at the lift pump then the fault might be in the loom, trace the wiring back and see if you have power at the fusebox.

bear in mind that the pumps only prime for a moment when the ignition is turned on, so you need to have the meter on right then to check the volts at that point.

Do you have a peak hold function on the meter?
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.
