Continuity means you have a circuit i.e zero resistance.
No continuity means open circuit i.e very high resistance

Those electrical tests are something I have never done before, only came across them recently so take great care and what ever you do, make sure you disconnect both the ignition control unit and the digifant control unit (with the ignition switched off)......you only want to stick the test equipment on the connectors to the modules, not the modules themselves, much damage and expense could be incurred if you get that wrong.

Did you try golfvr6's suggestions? i.e checking your fuel mixture?

Try the spark plug tester as i've suggested in previous threads.

Hi,

Sorry for the delay in replying, a very bad week at work.

The thing in the cabin wouldn't be the problem. It only deals with the engine when it is cold and the throttle is in the idle position. There is a tiny dip switch in the throttle body that tells the ecu when the engine should be at idle. It probably also trips the idle control stabilisation unit as well.

Its not that.

It could be the crystal doobry whatsit (richandhazel will tell you its real name), which can be found under the drivers wiper. But i would doubt it from what you've said. To test - find a mate with a GTI and try his.

I can ask around, but could you describe a bit more what happens.

Cheers,
Tin

The spark plug tester is a see-through spark plug that you can see the colour of the combustion burn through it. Quite cheap and very useful, Gunson Colortune, you can buy it from Halfords.
