VR6 does not get into reverse.
« on: 28 May 2011, 08:51 »
Hi there.

Ive been doing some searching on this topic.

One of my VR6's, 93, does not want to change into reverse. It started being ''harder'' to get into reverse about a week ago, and now my GF reports that its impossible.

So, after doing some searching I found that this is a cable operated system?

I also found an ''adjustment procedure'' on this site: http://www.houseofthud.com/shifting_gti.htm can someone confirm that this is correct for my car?

The gearoil is fairly new, and the other gears function just fine.

Any input here before I get my hands dirty?

Looked into the my ''reversing'' problem this weekend.

Found a broken clip where the cables attache to the gearbox changing mechanism. Took the piece from my other VR, and adjusted acc. to the procedure in the link above.

Works like a charm!
