Running Problems with 8v.
« on: 09 September 2003, 15:59 »
Hi All,
I am fairly new and have owned my golf for about 3 weeks now.

However there are still a few teething problems and I was wondering if anybody has experienced them before and know how to fix.

1st The car feel like it hits a Rev limiter about 5000 rpm which surely can't be right?

2ndly the car dies on over run, not all the time just occasionally which makes it really annoying. The car idles fine though at 800 rpm.

Cheers
Paul

What sort of top speed can you get? might be a problem with your ignition timing/ static timing. As for the car dying, check the throttle valve switch/ potentiometer.

Top speeds are fine I have pulled it through to 110 without a problem.

I will check the timing anyway and also the valve suggest. Thanks
