Just thought I'd share this because I was quite impressed with my handy work.
Basically driving out of tescos earlier in my 8v gti and my clutch pedal went to the floor. I managed to get the car into a parking space to have a look and discovered the metal c-clip on the end of the cable had come off, which I luckily walked back and found. Basically the clip had corroded and then simply cracked and just splayed out and fallen off, great!!.
After a brief moment of thinking great I'm going to be stuck here for a while I hatched a plan, which luckily was made easier by the fact there was a halfords across the road. £3.79 and a pack of jumbo zip ties later I was standing under my bonnet in the rain with the clip which I pushed back together and put back on the end of the cable and then zip tied in place with 5 zip ties. I was quite hopeful at this point but sure enough, it worked!! and I managed to drive home. So although I was momentarily pissed off I had broken down and thought my evening would be ruined, I'm now relatively chuffed I got it home haha.
