Leaking rear brake piston/calliper
« on: 09 June 2011, 15:43 »
I have a mk4 golf 1.8T GTI 150bhp. The rear brake calliper is weeping brake fluid at the back were the the hanbrake mechanism is attached. It seems as though there is a seal gone in the piston here or somethin??? Does anyone know if I can get a replcement seal kit and how I would go about fitting it?? Do I have to buy a new calliper or can I even get it reconditioned???

I know vw do seal kits but there similar price to reconditioned calipers (from ecp etc) plus the kit will only work if the slider is 100% (no scoring etc)

you could buy a recon or get one from a breaker (check the relevant area on this site)
