mk3 1.9 TDI starting/immobilizer problems HELP
« on: 05 June 2011, 16:03 »
hey there.just need to pic your brains for a min.i recently got a mk3 1.9 tdi. great wee car. i got 1 ey with the car not alarms fobs or anything like that.the only thing the guy i got the car from told me was that to start it.you have to put the key in.prime igntion wait for the glow light etc to go out.then put foot on the brake and start the car. if you didnt put your foot on the brake then the car wouldnt turn over or anything.

so for the last few weeks i've done that to start it along with a full service to remove the 'IN 02' message etc.but recently the car is becoming harder to start.doing exactly what i was before to start it and not its pot luck if the car will start or not.seems to be down to more luck to get it started now.

im comfused.could this be an immobilizer wired through the brake lights?any suggestions welcome.

Foot on the clutch diosconnects the g'box and takes load off the starter motor. Your battery may be weak or too small, diesels need a really good powerful battery, also one or two or more of your glowplugs may be duff!
