My insruance is though Admiral so I emailed them regarding the cost of putting an K&N indution kit onto the car. this is my reply..

Thank you for contacting us about your policy, registration T******

        Can you please confirm what is included in a K&N 57i induction pack in order
        for us to give you a quote for adding it to your policy?

Is this just the insurer being dumb or is this usual? I've never had mods on a car so wondered how much it would cost before doing it.

Just being dumb I think - tell them it is a modified air filter/intake so they know which option to select from the drop-down list!

Admiral will arse rape you, they wanted £4000 extra for lowered 40mm, exhaust and alloys

£21 sounds good.

I'm considering putting a CDA in my TDI. Now, I understand that if you mod your car your meant to inform your insurance company so they can make you pay through the nose, my question is though...how would they find out that is has a modification such as an induction kit and what would be the consequences of not telling them?

I guess the consequences would be void insurance, seriously they will find anything to make the insurance void and that induction kit will be perfect for them. I would inform them although having said that I've changed my front headlights and rear lights and not said anything  :rolleyes:
