Mk4 1.8T HELP
« on: 01 June 2011, 09:09 »
Hi guys, wondering if anyone could help me?

I have not long bought a 1.8t GTi (2000) and there are a few niggles with it which I could do with some advice on.

1. The remote on the key wont open the boot..this may seem silly but when I bought it when I pressed the open button twice, both doors and the boot locks were open. Now I cannot seem to get the boot to open!! It is really frustrating!!

2. When I go over potholes or particulary rough patches of tarmac, there is a loud knocking noise from the offside rear. The car was only MOT'd last Friday (27th May). Any ideas?

Apart from that the car is great  and a much nicer drive than my 2.2 SRI Astra.

Any help would be very much appriciated!!

Thanks

try putting the key in the boot and turn it 90 degrees, this activates the immobilizer, and should work fine. A friend ad this problem, and is sorted now.

For the boot ide say the rear washers leaking and broke the solinoid.

For the knoking I agree with the stuff above.
