Driving down the m69 today and the gear shift spat out of fifth and almost broke my hand!!!!!   :cry:

The deafening crunches were shortly replaced with absolute silence...     

Anyway, I heard it is possible to take a 2.0 8v bottom end and mate it to a 1.8 8v cyl head.

or what is the simplist complete 2.0 8v motor I fit straight into mine?

I need to sort it ASAP so ANY help you can give would be much appreciated.

yeah a 9a block out of a passat 16v. there is one in aldershot car spares if anyone is interested

After checking it over I'm fairly sure it is the gearbox.

Ive arranged other transport now so might as well take advantage.

Would fitting the 9a engine make much of difference to bhp or torque?

What is the best motor to fit for decent power gains?

getting it fitted is no problem, as long as it DOES fit...

Lots of questions I know but Im pretty desperate!!!
