Wiper stork or relay
« on: 26 May 2011, 17:54 »
Hi All,
Recently brought a mark 3 gti (after a few beetles and mark 4's) which so far I'm chuffed to bits with. Only problem I have is with the wipers. This is going to sound a pretty stupid question but which way should you move the wiper arm to get them to stay on constant and constant fast?????
If I hold it up the wipers work constant but I have to hold it there, if I push it down they come on intermitently but I cant get them to stay on constant or fast constant at all (everything else seems to work ir rear and both squirters)!!!!
So, would this point towards the arm being bust or a relay or anything else??
I know it sounds a stipid question so apologies!!

Hi, from what you have explained it sounds like the arm is knackered. When the wiper setting on the arm is selected it should click and lock into position you want. 1 click down is intermittent, 1 click up is constant and 2 clicks up is fast constant.

Hope this helps

Deffo the arm . . . On my old golf it was on its way out. Had to give it some force for it to get onto the constant wipe position. Common fault with them I think!
