cam belt continued
« on: 29 March 2005, 23:14 »
i'm a happy bunny
got my cambelt done today to the sum of £150 not by a vw stealer but all the same i can put the "has it been done, hasn't it been done" worries out of my mind
the thing is though my golf turns out to have a special type of pulley on the top end and the trusted garage that i use being thorough that they are, decided to change the bolt, washer, and something else can't remember what though, so they had to go to vw themselves to get this special bolt and washer, which vw call a custom pully bolt and washer (and something else) only cost a pound though
aparently 1:10000 golfs had this special pulley (yarn yarn bullsh!te bullsh!te)
but hey for a pound i'm not fussed
has anyone heard of this before
anyway the difference is amazing pulls much better
glad for many reasons for getting it done

yeah sorry forgot to mention i had the tensioner done as well
was told it was advisable to get that done ages ago
turns out it was the tensioner that was wearing the belt out
there was two deep grooves along the entire length of the belt
cheers
