rear shocks

my back shocks have been changed to gas standard for Mk 3 GTI 8v from oil but car still thumps over bumps whats wrong now  :sad: oh lads if you changing rear bearings read the book 1st cost me 4 sets of bearings" over tightening "  :lipsrsealed: yep ! what am i  behave

Did you replace the bump stops at the same time as the shocks?

Your rear axle bushes are probably worn out too.   How many miles has the car done?

check bushes they OK but got new set how hard too fit are they :smiley: bumper stops rubber bushes in the boot that  top of shock got through  :embarassed: if its them cant get them  :cry: deal only i bet thanks for the help so far  :wink:

Didn't really understand that last bit.

Why can't you get new bump stops?  You can get them from vw or euro car parts or gsf or anywhere really.  They are not that expensive, probably £30 for genuine ones, much less if you get pattern ones.
