8v 1991 gearbox replacement

Hi, well my gearbox has bust!! so i need to get my hand on a replacement gearbox , what sort of price am i looking at for one and what else do i need to be thinking about. Cheers

u can pickup 2nd hand 8v boxes for as little as £50. but then your taking the risk that it might go also. if you where able to fit them yourself then paying £50 here n there is nothing

just look the ads/papers for people breaking 8v Gti's

Yeah, cheapest you're going to get a second hand one is £20 to £30 but realisticallly you're probably looking at nearer £50 unless you're lucky. Well worth getting the clutch done at the same time as the bulk of the work involved is removing the gearbox in the first place.
