Is my head on its way out?

Hi All,

Been loosing coolant from an unknow source for a couple of weeks, and was getting a little worried about the head till the radiator blew through on Monday. I replaced that and all seamed well, but I am still loosing water from somewhere.

I had the AA out to start it the other day and they tested the coolant for hydrocarbons, but found them to be non exisatnt in the coolant, but as I run mostly on LPG i didn't think he would find any.

So, before i ramble any more,

What are the common symptons of a head gasket going or what else could it be to loose water every 3-500 miles?

did you let the car sit idling (till the fan kicks in) on the drive while checking round for water leaks?
