Recaro Seats change

mk4 golf gti

ive got the recaro fronts to fit in my car, to swap for the gti non recaro seats, however, my mate decided to cut the pull cord as he 'didnt need it'

so my question is, is it possible, and how, if so, to take the cord out of the old seats to put into the recaros, then how do i fit the recaro uprights to the bases?

not sure how to fix it but someone local to me quoted 160 + an hours labour to examine it.

even though i told him whats wrong.

needless to say it got sold broken

on closer inspection, it seems the cables were cut, which i was told were, it seems my mate angle grinded the plates on the bottom
