Reverse Light Switch on Mk2 1300
« on: 27 September 2009, 14:25 »
I just had a quick look around the forum for info on the switch. After checking bulbs and lines it seems the switch is dead. According to the info here, the switch is located near the speedo cable coming out of the gearbox. However, on the 1300 it may be different. The only likely thing I have found is this..

Is this the reverse light switch and if not, where in the name of Yootha Joyce is it?

Thanks in anticipation..

OK. Thanks. Someone mentioned a ball bearing which seems to be the main activating part in the switch.
I guessed the bearing may be stuck so with fading daylight, I gently tapped the metal switch housing with a hammer hoping it would free the bearing.

Job done.

If it goes again, cheap enough to replace.

Yep. it's a 5 speed. Still hanging in there; just.
Fingers crossed for the MOT. I'd hate to say goodbye to her.
