MAJOR ECU START UP FAULT!!!

   :angry: HI ive had a fault with my ecu so i have bought another 1 with the key, code reader, black box and ignition barrel. fitted black box, code reader ( ring round ignition barrel ) ecu and swapped chip over in the key. started car and would cut out soon as it started. changed everything back to original and doing same thing will not start at all now!!! any1 got any ideas??????[/b]

what car is it, mk4? i thought these had the immobiliser built into the dash, or is that only on later models...

either way plug it into vag-com and it will tell you if the immob is kicking in and why.  you dont need to change the reader coil btw, this isnt matched to anything. the chip is coded to the immobiliser box/clocks, then this matched pair is coded to the ecu.

you dont need to touch the chip or immob box/clocks either, all you need to do is change the ecu then code it to the immob unit/clocks with vag-com

no its the mk3 golf gti 8v its starting then cutting out straight away. only done it since swopped ecu and that over.

next step would be to get vag-com plugged in, that'll tell you whats up.  could be a wiring problem between the immob unit and the ecu
