only thing with it fitted mate.. you will get swarf in the sump and it WILL go around your engine your choice

Wasn't audi TT's reknown for having sump plug issues and most people would:
1) Helicoil a new one (popular and cheapest)
2) Weld and tap a new one
3) Replace Sump

Also check its not the bolts thread that are damaged, rather than just assume its the tapped thread on the sump to make sure. All jobs are sump off jobs due to swarf going around in engine, some people have not found it an issue, but its better to be safe than sorry as tech mentioned.

Valid point :afro: better to drop the sump and fit a helicoil

yeah i mite take it off but the bolts next to the gear box are a nightmare to remove!!! so im not sure yet?

drain the oil then put cemical metal round the bolt leave it for a hour it will set rock hard did it on my mate when he was skint lasted till he sold car 6 months or so

if dropping the sump may aswel fit a new one as they only bout 40 or 50 quid??

and i checked the bolts next to engine and they werent as hidden as i thought, but gettin to them??? i havent tried yet!!  :grin:

and because of the swarf reason thats why i havent retapped it whilstr its on there
