Hi all

I thought i would continue this thread rather the starting a new one.

Since having the noise of full lock and after further investigation decided it was the ARB as my car is slammed, i removed the ARB to see which it has helped, no noise of full lock etc. I had hardly any noise for a couple of days but today when i was driving to work i can here more noise, again rubbing type noise! Can anyone advise me what else it can possible be? I have checked the drive shaft on the chassis when the car is on the ground and it is pretty close but note close enough to get a constant noise like i am experiencing, it would only be an intermittant noise.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Wouldnt advise no arb, just raise It until you can afford a better one.
I used FK adjustable drop links as I had rubbing over bumps (1.8 t on jom coilovers) but theese made the rubbing worse as were longer than the ones on their.
Safest, most practical option really is new arb in my opinion     

The ARB isnt an issue now, it has been removed to eliminate noises and will be upgraded with a Whiteline or R32 ARB, and as there is no ARB it cant be the droplinks. Since removing the ARB i havent noticed any handling differences at all, but saying that it will be replaced.

My query is what else could be causing the rubbing?

see if the chsis is marked where the driveshaft would touch,
anything rubbing must be something moving, so brakes, wheel on arches, wheel on coilovers.
dont forget coilovers settle after a while and go abit lower.
try turning it up a couple notches see if it elimantes the problem.

on a side note, does the front arb really make no difference as far as you can tell? thought it would handle like a box of jelly? do you have a strut brace or anything?

I will have a look at the rubbing at the weekend, weather is so poor at the moment here. The driveshaft when stationary is not that close to the chassis so although over bumps may hit it i wouldnt have thought it would constantly rub when driving.

I honestly havent noticed any difference at all, i have no other bracing i.e. strut brace. I wouldnt do it on standard suspension, but coilovers stiffen things up. Just look at kit cars, my Dad built one and they have no ARBS at all and run fine. Obviously completely up to the owner but im happy to run without one for the time being until i sort the rubbing out.

I have 5mm spacers on the front mate so the adjusters should rub, and it only appears to be on the drivers side.

Driver side driveshaft is Much thicker than passenger side, so probably something to do with dtiveshaft

Thats what i am swaying to. Bloody annoying, i have lowered loads of cars and never had the problems you experience with the MK4.
