MK3 GOLF VR6 DIFF CHANGE FROM A 3.30 TOO A 4.24 ITS GOOOOOODDDDDDD

Hi guys as some will have read i was niffed off to say the least when i got blown away on the track by my mate in his 306 gti6 so i was looking for a way to get me back too the front with out spending major money,so i opted for changing the differential and boy what a differance it has made!!! havent had it on the track yet thats on the 5th but took it for a test drive today and found it pulls so much better through the gears ok first is very short now but second pulls like its going out of fashion and 3rd is just the same, i opted for a 4.24 diff in the end as a 3.30 that is standard just seemed to bog down out of corners but now its like riding a crosser, its mint and would totally reccomend it,the other thing i had done was had the rivets removed and replaced with a bolt kit that makes the box stronger,all in it cost me 340 quid, that was for gearbox overhall, 4.24 diff+fitting and rivet removal, i removed and refitted the box myself (beeyachhh) on my drive its do-able and getting it out is easy but getting it back in is a hore!!!!will post details of how it goes on the track after the 5th roll on rockingham!!!

This is exactly what I'm looking at doing when my box has to come out for a clutch change. Although the 4.24 FD is a bit extreme for road use, I'll be going for the 3.94 FD. Ess_three said it's the best for both track and road (4.24 is track only really he said).

What company did you use? £340 sounds pretty good I think for box overhaul, FD change and getting rid of the rivets

i used a local gearbox company in derby i was going to put the 3.94 in but my g/box man rang me and said that the 3.94 is nearly a 4.24 so why dont i go for that lol i did the calculations, im on 15" wheels and the ratios were standard, which i didnt think was too bad for track or road it reckons max speed around 130 mph will find out on me next trackday!!! go for it well worth the mod will post vids of my next trackday so people can see the differance!!
