hello new guy
« on: 18 February 2011, 21:27 »
Hi all,
Im an American lucky enough to be stationed in Germany for the next few years.  I just bought a 95 golf Gti, my first. Unfortunetly the person I bought it from, supposed to be a "brother in arms," hid some things about the car from me that I should have noticed and I wish I had noticed!  That is my luck with vehicles! I used to be a painter and body man before the economy tanked and I joined the Air Force. So im strong on body and electrical however Ive always gone the hardknock ways on mechanics.  Stupid enough to jump into some big projects over my skill level! Anyways so I was dazzled by the beauty and I didnt test drive the car hard enough to notice the clutch slipping. Now its slipping rather bad and Ive only had the car for about a week.  Plus I think there may be a leak in the powersteering pump and the engine is idling rough.  AHH! I didnt spend an arm and a leg on it and  I love the interior now Im just deciding what to do about the problems.!!  I figure this is the introduction and I will post some topics in the correct areas! Looking forward to your replies!
Randy

Hi and welcome.

Well being in Germany is a big WIN for you, for a start.  As you're in the USAF you should have plenty of access to garage facilities  - ask the many members of the RAF on here  :lipsrsealed::grin:

Post in the MK3 section for useful advice. New clutch and a tune up should see you fine.
