regardless, the answer is yes, but you need to change the clutch friction disc for a 1.8 mk2/3 one. if you go for a complete clutch kit be aware there are 2 different ones depending on the age of the car. check your flywheel, if it has 2 dowels its an early one and uses same clutch as mk2 1.8 8v/16v (8v same as mk3 1.8 8v, 16v same as 2.0 8v) if it has 1 dowel then its late mk3 and only late type 1.8 8v mk3 clutch kit will fit. other option is to buy an early mk3 or mk2 2 dowel clutch kit,m then you know 100% that a mk2 clutch kit will fit, which generally are cheaper to buy than the later spec mk3 ones. if i were you i would get a mk3 flywheel and have it lightened then buy mk2 1.8 8v clutch kit, then you know it will all fit.
check the box code before you do anything though, it may not be what the seller thinks it is. and as a last check before you start try to fit the clutch friction disc onto the input shaft then you know 100% that it will all bolt together
