Well the van has been sat for 7 years in total really! It was running last year but didnt drive and it got left whilst i moved place etc. Nothing done to car but wont start at moment.
I had added a little fuel but to be honest most prob used when ticking it over last year. I disconected the fuel pipe from the tank and only a little ran out so im thinking it needs some fresh. The old filter and the little inline one were absolutely filthy and the colour of the fuel as in my vid is very dark.
I checked timing and its fine, and unchanged from when running a year ago. I have changed the metering head as I had bought a few second hand ones previously. The vid was with the metering flap help fully open. Touch wood it just needs fresh fuel and restrictive inline filter removed. If that doesnt sort it im going to try and source a fuel pressure tester.
I am off for a week on half term soon so will get a nice long chance to nosey about, so no doubt youll see more of be then
Cheers
Sounds the same as my situation, engine was out of the car for 6 years.. pretty much forgotten about.
I couldn't start mine when it was all back together.. got really pee'd off at one point.. turned out to be knackered wiring and an over complicated faulty alarm system, hence why I stripped it all out.. by the sounds of it you're pulling all sorts of crud from the bottom of your tank.
The fuel filter like the one in this picture......
......needs to stay in place but i'd recommend replacing it and I have no idea why there is a second, small inline one. as you say, loose that, is it even correct for a high pressure system?
Because of my crud in old fuel paranoia I put at least 4-5 cans of fuel in before I stated messing and always keep it topped up while it's not moving to prevent the inside of the tank corroding.
