MK5 Grill! - Easy to fit on a 1.6 Golf??
« on: 08 February 2011, 16:27 »
Hi all,

Im currently the owner of a MK3 golf gti 16v! And I love it to bits. It's on 170000 odd  miles now and I think it's getting too old as Im having nothing but trouble with it now :(

Anyways, Iv been looking at the mk5 GTI 2.0 turbo charged because it looks stunning! :-O

Done an insurance quote for it and the lowest I Can get it is to £1800 odd a year! :(

So Iv been looking at saving myself some money, and maybe getting a 1.6 mk5 and then just having the GTI Gril fitted to it. Would this be an easy job? or a really expensive job? lol

Many Thanks

As long as you have a  golf with the later bumper then you should be fine.
Though I prefer the later GT grill to the GTI one, especially as it wouldn't be a GTI.

Expensive job!

Genuine parts can cost around £1000 (slam panel e.t.c) then it needs sprayed!

Do a search for vagen on google, they sell ABS plastic GTI style bumpers to suit the non facelift cars including the grill and everything for about £300 I think. Look like decent quality too, a few people on uk-mkivs have used them and said there wasn't much alteration needed.
