mileage doen't work

  only noticed 4 days ago that it hasn't moved at all, speedo is working but not the mileage or the trip.

what could it be

its a Golf GTi b-reg (85)

I would say its probably the internals of the speedo have packed up, sometimes the gogs inside wear out and fail to turn, might be worth taking it apart and seeing if anything has come adrift.

I've had mine out more times than I can count - and its a fairly easy job to take them apart. there may be an orange screw thread that isn't making contact check it out first. but it is really easy to strip the entire speedo to bits, if you do make sure you have the enertia cup mated properly when you put it back together or it could whine when you get up to speed. (it will be obvious what it is) I had this problem with mine!
