somerset mk1 build

hiya chaps im a mk4 man myself but i been helping my mate with a mk1 build with i believe the origonal gti lump maybe 1.6 is it? anyways we are having problems with getting a tune out of her as for some reason there must be dodgy earth from the ignition to the coil pack. its all new plugs leads coil pack the lot but still no joy. getting ocational spark but seems to come and go. anyone in the somerset area fancy coming down to the workshop and having a butchers with us? would be awsome if we could have another set of eyes on it see if we are missing something along the line. cheers chaps. oh and its wells in somerset incase you wondering.

change the tci unit in the scuttle tray, mk2 golf one will fit :)
may also be the hall sender in the dizzy, you could use a 1.8 gti k-jet mk1/2/scirocco/cabby one, or even a 1.6/1.8 carby one. carby wont be right but if car fires up then you have found the problem at least
