New to the world of GTI
« on: 02 March 2005, 12:35 »
Hello, I have just bought a Golf GTI 8v mrk2..........    I have never had one before and this is a real pearla!!!!   Full service history, the lot......  this baby has been totally loved and i want to continue to treat her just right.  She is so dreamy but i am not to sure on what problems i may encounter in the future or the best way to look after her.  Any advice is much much appreciated.  I am hoping to go to some of the events this summer too so if anyone can advise on the best places to go that would be great.

Thank you very muchly

A very happy girl with a very happy car!!

DL xx

Nice one! Welcome to the forum, I've not been on here long but it's a cool place to hang out and full of very useful info.

How about some pics so we can see what she looks like? As for shows I'm not sure which are supposed to be the best ones, but I shall be attending a few this year inbetween all the mini ones.

Thank you for your response, i am hoping to get a pic on here once i have worked out how to mend the scanner (god knows i've taken enough - hahahaha)

My friend is a mini enthusiast so i was interested to see your pic, i am hoping to accompany her in the london to brighton mini run this year (assuming she is up and running)......   my baby will be the support car for the journey, hopefully.   Should be fun all round.

Thanks again

DL x

To be perfectly honest I wouldn't bother with the London to Brighton. You spend about 8hrs stuck in huge traffic jams and get NO sleep whatsoever at the campsite the night before.

The best mini show of them all is the Riveira Run. London - Newquay on the first bank holiday weekend of May. It's a convoy down to newquay on the saturday show and cruise on the sunday and then everyone leaves on the monday. Sat and sun nights there is a club to go to and loads of random groups of people to meet in the campsite. ALways a top laugh, this year will be my 4th in a row!

welcome to the forum. I bought my first golf last weekend, a MK2 16 valver... Like you, I am besotted

Good luck with it. If you are based in the south the No Rice seems to be a decent meet. Every 2nd wednesday of the month. I am still finding contacts of other people who are going.

Enjoy

Welcome DL, this site is defo the place for advice, i find edition38 quite useful too.

Keep that service history up & u shouldnt have any trouble at all.

Personally, i service mine 6 monthly (1 by myself, the other by a specialist for the special stamp in the book )

Enjoy it, i know i do (mk2 16v)

Paul.
