Serious idle problems / stalling
« on: 03 March 2005, 15:43 »
I've had my 1989 digifant for just over two years and had no problems at all.? Just recently though the idle has gone crazy.? Whenever I stop at a junction or change gear, the revs rise and fall like mad and quite often drop so much that the engine stalls - this is quite frightening when on a roundabout!

I've tried most things including cleaning the isv which was surprisingly clean.? I've noticed that the crankcase ventilation valve is quite loose, could this be the cause and if so where can i get a new plastic bushing as this seems worn.

Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated as this is doing my head in!

do you mean the little bung on top of the rocker cover? if this has split this can lead to a few problems and only costs a few quid from VW. may not solve your problem but will help out another one!
