Right,

MK2GGTI2.0 Has given me an idea, albeit inadvertantly.

We all (or most) of us are unable to get a decent air intake due to the size and fitment of the K Jet airbox. He showed me a picture of what looks to be a replacement bottom for the airbox, with a pipe coming off to accept a cone style air filter.

Now, even fitting one of those is not without its problems, such aas the placement of the cone would lead to it sucking in hot air. So....

What if a replacement boittom could be made, that accepts a cone filter, and sheilds it from the hear do the engine, and incorporated a duct from a suitable place on the front bumper?

What wold you guys (and Girls) think if i could produce from carbon fibre or similer material, a replacement bottom to the Airbox, with an induction kit including protected a cone filter and cold air intake, again made of carbon fibre or some such?

Would anybody be interested?

just drill the airbox on the side away from the engine and the front. or cut a huge hole in there to get more air in. tbh it does nothing for the performance side of things, but makes a lot more noise.

I don't know why people persist with this non-truth.
Performance air filter + drilled box make a considerable difference to throttle response and low/mid range power. Obviously depending on engine, on an 8v it may be fairly small, on a vr6 it makes a big difference.
That fact on the matter is stock air inlets are very restrictive to keep noise levels down. So opening up will make a difference.
It certainly isn't just noise, this is another myth peddled on the clubgti forum.
Anyone that has a clue about engines knows this is bollox
