I always thought it drained the MPG by some huge amount and reduced power as well.

Not by much tbh, on mine it is about 1mpg, and power wise nothing that you can notice.

Plus if you think about the extra wind resistance that is caused when you have your windows open rather than the aircon on i think it would be about the same

You can fit air con but as I said you need a donor car and swap everything over.

I did it on my Vectra and took around 3 days.
