Fuel filter is under the car towards the rear.  You're on about the charcoal canister which is next to your washer bottle 

Diesels have the fuel filter in the engine bay

Not 100% tbh - think its something to do with the emissions control.  I stand to be corrected.  Petrol engines are not my forte

sounds like coilpack on cylinder 1 has broken down (furthest one to the left as you look at the engine from the front of the car)
try swapping the coils around between cylinders 1 and 2, and see if the fault code jumps to the next cylinder aswell.

well iv just swapped them over cy1 with cy2 and now it wont throw a fault code up no matter how hard i try.

just have keep driving till it does.
