17" to 18" monza
« on: 21 January 2011, 15:58 »
Thinking about buying a set of monza shadows (does anyone know if they suffer from whiteworm as well)
Quick question - is it a straight swap over from standard 17's or do the require any additional parts, spacers etc

Cheers

CT.

Yes, it is a straight swap. Same caps, bolts etc
If you mean genuine Shadows (rather than Monza IIs), then I do believe there have been some issues of white worm but most of the wheels are still fairly new so it's a bit early to tell if the problem is going to be as endemic as Monza IIs suffered. It's just the type of finish really, ozone friendly lacquer on top of highly polished alloy doesn't make a good long term finish.
They sure look pretty when they are new though!

Any alloy wheel that has a polished finish and is diamond cut will suffer from white worm (just ask the MK4 Anni boys).

So if you are purchasing genuine Monzas then yes, they can be prone to white worm so make sure you look after them.

Cheers for the quick replies - sure I'd read somewhere to make sure you ordered some spacers when trading up, the person even quoted the part number required, but glad it's just a straight swap.  They do look great so think I'll take the plunge nest time I need new tyres.
