4 branch for 8v 2.0.Anybody bought one of these ???/
« on: 18 January 2011, 22:47 »
Hi all.
Iv'e been looking at one of these on ebay :-

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320633209652&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

The seller seems to have a lot of good feedback for sales of them but it all seems to have been left by buyers before they have fitted them.Just wondering if anyone here has bought one of these from this seller as iv'e heard some horror stories of people trying to fit one's that were made for lhd cars on to to rhd cars !.Steering rack gets in the way apparently

        Any advice gladly appreciated.Thanks.

For a start, that one is not for a Golf 2l 8v.

Secondly, as Ess_three found out after lots of dyno testing, they don't add any horsepower, the standard manifold flows well enough up to 200hp.

Thirdly, a lot are made for LHD cars, because in Europe, the LHD market is larger than the RHD market

Fourthly, they don't have a flexi joint, so you'll have to fit one unless you want to break the exhaust system in no time.

And last but not least, getting them to fit on the head is sometimes difficult as they can be made of the wrong measure but a few mm.

Conclusion: Stay away from them, if you are adamant of buying one, get one from a well known reputable brand.

Sound advice, not worth the hassle.
