Hi

New to the forum, I noticed there was a great post about the different types of alarms Mk3's were fitted with, but then the trail seemed to go flat.  I'm going stir crazy (and don't want to pay someone £40 for the privilege), I tripped the alarm when refitting my battery and now the fobs won't work.  I've been told I need to reset the alarm, or even just deactivate/turn it off.   I've got the silver reset keys too but any help would be greatly appreciated - especially where can I find the alarm unit?  I have no idea where to look (but I'm enthusiastic and female!)

Thanks I'm currently car -less and have been since christmas.

Hey thanks - this is the thread I'd been looking at and there's no link to the 918 manual or the reset location.

I'll try the reset instructions given but I think that's for the 5000?

If that fails then the alarm box is usually located either behind the passenger glovebox (or airbag if you have one) or behind the instrument cluster. The best bet is to remoe the lower dash trim on passenger side then remoe the glove box. You will then see the black box bolted to the bulkhead. Undo the connectors one at a time and try starting the car each time. However if the immobiliser has kicked in this may not always work but it's worth a try.

Ive the 918 fitted in my vr. Thats what I did after messing with the battery gave me the same fault as you. I stupidly didnt look on here just rushed to take my glove box and bits out in the dark. Took about half hour to get it all out and get the alarm working. And remove about two miles of old phone kit wiring that was doing nothing.

Dont know if the reset procedure with the ignition works as I skipped straight to butchering my dash!
