i read that last night and thought it was awesome and very anal.. shame to say though that that mk1 probably wont ever be driven again 

The DIY plating will last just as long as getting it done at a platers.. just most people cant be arsed with the process.. do you think that guy would put that much effort into plating that last 6 months ??

while I like a clean engine bay, and this is one of the better ones... I prefer to see one whizzing about on the roads with the top down and the music up!
