Golf gti 16v-shuddering at 3000rpm
« on: 15 January 2011, 11:53 »
I have a mk3 golf gti that shudders at 3000rpm in every gear

I posted this a few weeks ago and someone suggested it could be the maf sensor,I have finally got round to looking at the car and it doesn't have a maf sensor

The engine code is ABF

any suggestions what it could be would be great

Is it  serious shudder? Mine lost ignition at around 4500rpm, and gradually got lower and lower. It was a serious jolt felt very serious. when i got around to looking at it i first checked EVERY plug-in connector in the engine bay, few were very loose and i cable tied the loose ones together.

At the same time i discovered i had a leaking rocker cover gasket where the oil was leaking into the spark plug openings. cleaned that too.

SO i fixed the jolting/shuddering, but not sure which of the above problems was the culprit!!

hello buddy
new to this forum
yep i had the same problem for 2 years and no one even vw couldnt help!
as already said by chalotte its defo the ecu relay what its doing is the voltage in the relay is shooting up to 14v then back down to 2v then up to 5v causing the ecu to cut in and out cost me 15 quid to fix it but i was warned that it will be a knock on effect as it takes out the airflow meter and it did 2 weeks after!! and they are not cheap

Yup. And after that it takes out the whole engine and blows up the entire planet.
